Life Strives

“I want to be thoroughly used up when I die- for the harder I work, the more I live… Life is no ‘brief candle’ to me; it is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for this moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible…” – George Bernard Shaw as quoted from Wisdom of the Ages.

Want to live more? Shine more. Engage more. Try more. Don’t make caution a byword. Let life show you how much it can deliver. Don’t become aged safely. Believe in yourself, your talents and your dreams. Don’t let life slip away; grab hold and refuse to let go graciously.

Some of you may remember the tale from Genesis 32, where Jacob wrestles with God. Jacob wrestles all night long and only loses because the Lord strikes his knee to subdue him. And then the Lord honors Jacob with a new name, Israel, which means, God strives.  That’s the kind of grabbing onto life that I am talking about.
