Easter has always been a favorite day for me. Perhaps because it seems so full of hope. Perhaps because my birthday has landed three times on Easter. Perhaps because the earth energies are strong and vibrant. I remember many Easter services in my Christian church. It always seems so jubilant. Easter lilies, the year’s best music (think “The Hallelujah Chorus), beautiful clothing and a filled church.
It is a time of celebration. Not only is it a celebration of the resurrection of Christ, it’s a celebration of new life like flowers, lambs and birds that typically give birth in spring.
But remember, resurrection is not the absence of death. It is the resurrection of the dead. A considerable event, but we have better in our future. More than resurrection, we would be better off if we didn’t die at all. And that is what the Bible promises. Life forevermore.
Revelation 21 is Apostle John’s vision of a new heaven and a new earth. Verse 4 promises: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
While this describes a different place than here, it helps me believe that God’s purpose for us is to live forever, without pain, mourning or tears.
With God’s help, let’s start bringing that purpose this Easter- life forever now. Pass this blog along.
