Coasting through Life

“To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else.” Emily Dickenson

Feeling passionate about life, it amazes me now to see people coasting through life, accepting their fate as they struggle to make ends meet.

Believe me, I understand. I have felt at the mercy of larger forces myself. Feeling passionate about life can seem as far away as that dream trip to Paris in the spring. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t, today, block out the dates, plan for that trip and make reservations. Spring will come.

The question is, next spring, will you be in Paris or going to work again?

Will you, having coasted through life, wake up one morning, look in the mirror and ask that old face staring at you, “What happened?”

Or will you do live passionately, Paris-style? On getting up each morning, when you look at the face in the mirror, what will you say? Try this: “You are never going to die and today is the day to prove it.”
